Evansville Otters News Release
(EVANSVILLE, Ind.) - The Kalamazoo Kings scored four early runs and held on to the lead for a 7-2 win over the Evansville Otters on Sunday afternoon.
The win marks the first sweep for the Kalamazoo Kings this season and a six game losing streak for the Evansville Otters.
The Kalamazoo Kings batted around in the first inning for the 4-0 edge and Evansville cut the deficit in half with a Vinnie Scarduzio sacrifice fly and a Greg Alexander RBI single.
The visiting team then tacked on another three runs as the bullpen held the rest of the way in the 7-2 victory.
Tyler Hyde (2-0) pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for Kalamazoo as the pitcher receives the win. The loss goes to Otters starter Cameron Aspaas (1-2) after allowing seven runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Kalamazoo improves to 24-54 with the win as Evansville is currently 28-48.
The Otters are off on Monday and return to action on Tuesday night with the opening of a three game series against the Windy City Thunderbolts. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM CDT from Bosse Field in Evansville, Indiana.
