Washington, Pa. - Jacob Dempsey went 2-3 with a double and a home run to end his career and help the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, defeated the Normal CornBelters 4-3 Sunday night at CONSOL Energy Park on a walk-off walk.

The Wild Things won the game in the bottom in the ninth when Wilson Matos scored on a Mark McGonigle walk with the bases loaded. Matos was pinch running for Dempsey, who had walked earlier in the inning.

The Wild Things got on the board in the bottom of the second when Dempsey, who had announced earlier in the evening that he would retire following the game, doubled and then scored on an error by the shortstop to give Washington a 1-0 lead.

The CornBelters took the lead in the top of the sixth when Daniel Cox hit a two-run home run, his 14 of the season, to give them a 2-1 lead.

The Wild Things regained the lead in the bottom of seventh thanks to Dempsey. With one out and Eric Stephens on first, he got a hold of a 1-1 pitch and drove it over the centerfield wall for his final career home run to put Washington in front 3-2. The home run was his ninth of the season, his 57th as a Wild Thing and his 64th of his professional career.

In the top of the eighth, Normal tied the game at 3-3 when Brad Augustin scored on a single by Cox.

For the fourth consecutive game, Wild Things starter Jeff Sonnenberg dominated. He gave up two runs on six hits in seven innings. He struck out seven and didn't walk a batter in the no decision. Reliever Eryk McConnell picked up the win.

Normal Starter Bobby Prichett gave up three runs on four hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out seven in the no decision. Reliever Mike LaLuna recorded up the loss.
