Kalamazoo, MI - The Kenosha Kingfish came out on top 4-3 against the Kalamazoo Growlers to finish out the regular season.

The boys in baby blue started the season in similar fashion, defeating the defending Northwoods League champions 2-0 in the season opener.

Kenosha opened out the contest with a four-spot in the second frame. Kalamazoo answered with a pair of runs in the sixth frame and another in the seventh.

However, the exclamation point was provided by the league's best door slammer in Tucker Shalley (Eckerd College), who logged his league-best 11th save.

Joe Muzio (Eckerd College) ended his summer on a high-note, registering his second multi-hit game in the last three contests. Muzio went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI to propel Kenosha to victory.

Newcomer Carson Byers (Miami University Ohio) caught fire at the plate in Kalamazoo's regular season finale. He put up a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI in the evening.

College of Lake County southpaw Isaiah Terrell (1-0) earned the win after getting plenty of weak contact. Terrell allowed just two runs on seven hits with a strikeout through five and a third innings pitched.

Western Michigan hurler James Geshel (0-1) took the loss after allowing four earned runs with four walks in a pair of innings of work. Kellogg Community College pitcher Jake Ickes came in with seven shutout innings of relief.

The Kingfish (31-41, 14-25) wrapped up their season with a two-game sweep over the defending champs.

The Growlers (46-26, 25-11) put together their best regular season record in team history. They will now face off against the Traverse City Pit Spitters in the first round of the Northwoods League playoffs.

Game one of the three-game series begins on Aug. 13.

Details on the 2024 schedule will be released in the coming months.
