Madison, WI - Madison and Green Bay opened their best-of-three playoff series in the Great Lakes West Divisional Round on Sunday afternoon at Warner Park. Green Bay scored eight straight runs after Madison took a 2-0 lead to take game one, 8-4.

Green Bay handed the ball to the Northwoods League Pitcher of the Year, Brett Sanchez, for the opening game of the set. The Mallards grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st on Keenan Taylor's fifth home run of the year out of a full-count.

Madison's Jacob Kisting was strong through the first two innings but a rough 3rd that included three wild pitches allowed the Rockers to tie the game at 2-2. Green Bay took their first lead in the top of the 6th after Kisting departed while throwing 104 pitches. With one on, Jack Turner entered out of the Mallards' bullpen and allowed the next four batters to reach. Green Bay snagged a 5-2 lead by the time the inning was over.

Green Bay added three more, two in the 8th and one in the 9th, to their run total including Kendal Ewell's second RBI of the afternoon during his 4-4 day. Madison's only other runs were scored on Chad McCann's two-run blast against Rockers' closer Tyler Horvath.

Madison and Green Bay continue their playoff series tomorrow from Capital Credit Union Park with the Rockers looking for a two-game sweep of the Mallards with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 P.M. CST.
