Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - The Kingfish (11-15) overcame a 6 run deficit with 13 unanswered runs to defeat the Battle Creek Bombers 13-6. The stylish victory is Duffy Dyer's 100th regular season win as manager of the Kingfish.
Charlie Hecht started on the mound for the Kingfish and got roughed up. He pitched the first two innings and allowed 6 runs off of 7 hits. When he left the game, Battle Creek lead 6-0.
Adam Dressler had a fabulous relief outing in which he pitched 5 scoreless frames, and at one point retired 11 straight Bombers. Dressler kept the game close, and the Kingfish offense sparkled to life. In the end, Dressler was awarded the win on the hill.
Kenosha picked up 3 runs in the 4th inning thanks to a Micah Coffey double. In the 7th, the Kingfish unloaded with 7 runs. The 7th inning featured a Micah Coffey solo home run, and RBI singles by Rob Henry and Cullen Jozwiak. Pete Schuler put the game out of reach with a 3 run homer in the 8th.
Jesse Ellefson made his Northwoods League debut and combined with JR Holloway to hold Battle Creek scoreless in the 8th and 9th innings. Pete Schuler went 2 for 5 at the plate with 4 RBI to lead the Kingfish offense. Micah Coffey followed his lead with a 2 for 4 night and 3 RBI.
The Kingfish host Battle Creek tomorrow at Simmons Field at 1:05 CT, then have a two-game home series against Kalamazoo Monday and Tuesday.
