Kingfish Swing Past the Bullfrogs 4-3
June 20, 2014 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Kenosha Kingfish News Release
It was a back and forth affair between the Green Bay Bullfrogs and the Kenosha Kingfish. Both teams had active bats and reputable pitching. The Kingfish got the last swing, and won 4-3 to take the first game of the series from the Bullfrogs.
The Bullfrogs took an early lead with one run in the first. However the Kingfish quickly responded and were able to tie things up in third. Pat Porter doubled and was later driven in by Alex Dunlap, his first RBI as a Kingfish.
The Bullfrogs threatened in the fourth but the Kingfish escaped with no damage done. The Bullfrogs did however, get one run in the fifth to go up 2-1.
The Kingfish continued their hitting and answered right back in the fifth. Dunlap crushed another double to centerfield, his second on the night, scoring Zach Ratcliff. Steven Sensley continued the rally and singled to score Alex Dunlap. The Kingfish went up 3-2.
The Bullfrogs didn't make it easy for Duffy Dyer's team as they scored on a suicide squeeze to tie it back up at three apiece, but the Kingfish would not go down without a fight. Steven Sensley got another hit and pushed Pat Porter across home to give the Kingfish the 4-3 lead. On the night, Sensley had two singles, and two RBIs in addition to Dunlap's two doubles and two RBIs.
Keeping the Kingfish in the lead was Coley Thompkins. The righty from Campbell University got the win and recorded two strikeouts, allowing just one hit in his three innings on the mound.
The Kingfish take on the Green Bay Bullfrogs once again tomorrow night at 6:05. Join the Kingfish tomorrow for post-game fireworks presented by Miller Lite. To end the home stand, the Kingfish will face the Battle Creek Bombers for a two game series starting on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
