Alexandria, Minn. - The Alexandria Blue Anchors defeated the Rochester Honkers to open a four-game home stand Friday night at Knute Nelson Memorial Park by a score of 4-0. The Anchors are now 5-19.

The Anchors scored quickly in the first as Craig Nennig reached on an error and moved to third on an error by the pitcher on a pickoff. Jake Bergren drove in Nennig with a sac fly to center giving the Anchors a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth, Kris Goodman doubled to start the inning and went to third when Roman Collins reached on an error. Brody Miller walked to load the bases and after a strikeout, Rickey Sanchez was hit by a pitch to force in Goodman. Jordan Lee advanced to first on a fielder's choice to score Collins and a wild pitch brought home Miller to make the score 4-0.

Then the rain came and the field was unplayable so the game was called after four-and-a-half innings and the Anchors came away with a 4-0 win, their second straight victory at home.

Andrew Thome (2-0) pitched a complete game and allowed just three hits and struck out three Honkers' batters to pick up the shutout. He was tonight's Minnesota Baseball Academy Player of the Game.
