Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
KENOSHA, WI - Despite leading 4-3 entering the seventh, the Battle Creek Battle Jacks dropped game three of the series against the Kenosha Kingfish, 11-4. Kenosha plated four in the seventh and eighth innings in the win.
The Battle Jacks got on the board quickly. With the bases loaded in the first, Dillon Kark flared a single into center to plate a pair.
Jay Beshears started the second with a leadoff triple to left center for Kenosha. But, Charlie Rhee made a diving catch in center with two outs to strand runners at the corners.
The Kingfish eventually scored a run in the third. Drake Wescott doubled to center to cut the deficit in half.
Then, Kenosha took the lead in the fourth. Brady Counsell delivered with an RBI double and Gage Williams sent a sac-fly to left to give the Kingfish a 3-2 cushion.
But, the Battle Jacks tied it in the fifth with a Pat Mills RBI fielder's choice. Kark followed up with another bases-loaded hit, an RBI single to hand Battle Creek a 4-3 edge.
That advantage lasted until the seventh. The Kingfish had five straight hits with two outs, including two-run singles by Williams and Drake Herrera, to take a 7-4 lead.
Kenosha plated four more runs in the eighth to add insult to injury. Grayson Thurman picked up his 11th save for the Kingfish.
The Battle Jacks (20-21) will try to take the series against the Kingfish (19-22) on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. ET.
