Wausau, WI - The last time the Kingfish played in Wausau, they were swept. It looked like it would be more of the same tonight until the ninth inning.

The Kingfish, down by one, saw Dylan Mathews draw a leadoff walk. Jason Scholl would pinch hit for Mitch Gasbarro and the decision would pay an immediate dividend as Scholl smoked his 10th home run of the summer to put the Kingfish ahead. The Kingfish would proceed to load the bases, and then strike for three more runs to finish off the Woodchucks 8-4.

Brendon Allen toed the slab for the Kingfish and, aside from two mistakes, was fantastic. A pair of home runs had Allen allowing three earned runs over the course of six innings. Allen walked two while striking out six Woodchucks before departing the ball game. Garrett McKenzie relieved Allen in what was his finest performance this season. McKenzie faced 5 batters and struck out each of them and then was relieved. Adam Dressler finished off the eighth by recording a single out, before the Kingfish exploded in the ninth. J.D. Nielsen took the win as the final pitcher this evening as he retired the final side to claim victory.

Eric Filia put on a show offensively, going 4-5 with 3 RBI. Micah Coffey, Jeremy Vasquez, and Steven Sensley each had two hit performances, while Mitch Gasbarro and Jason Scholl tacked on a hit each. The Kingfish, as a ball club, drew seven walks throughout the course of the game. Between both teams, eight of the twelve runs scored came via home runs.

The victory gives the Kingfish their twentieth in the second half of the season, and their 43rd overall. They will play the Woodchucks tomorrow evening before heading to Mankato on Saturday.
