Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, WI- The Green Bay Bullfrogs were defeated by the Madison Mallards 19-3 on July 31 at Joannes Stadium.
Justin Watts improved his record to 3-2, and Matt McCarthy dropped to 1-1 on the season.
After a quick seven-pitch top of the first inning for Bullfrogs starter Ryan Radue, Logan Taylor led off the inning with a single, followed by a walk for Robb Paller. A wild pitch put runners on second and third, and Brian Celsi's run-scoring groundout put Green Bay on the scoreboard.
With the infield drawn in, Danny Rosenbaum singled up the middle to score Paller and give the Bullfrogs an early 2-0 lead.
Madison left the bases loaded in the second and third innings, and the Bullfrogs took advantage and expanded their lead in the bottom of the third.
Celsi stepped in as the first batter of the inning and launched a home run over the right-field wall for his first dinger of the season.
The Mallards cut the deficit to one the fourth with a softly-hit single by Anthony Gonsolin to score Matt McCann, and Jason Goldstein walked two batters later with the bases loaded to make it a 3-2 ballgame.
Madison took the lead with three runs in the fifth with run-scoring singles by Logan Regnier and Gonsolin.
The Mallards sent eight batters to the plate in the top of the seventh and scored four runs on four hits to extend the deficit to 9-3 before Madison scored 10 runs in the top of the ninth.
The Bullfrogs will play a two-game road series against the Kalamazoo Growlers this weekend and return to Joannes Stadium on Aug. 6.
