Bogucki, Mallards Cap Road Tour Friday in Green Bay

July 31, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, Wis. - After falling victim to a 10-2 loss in their series-opening tilt Thursday against the Green Bay Bullfrogs (15-13, 37-26), field manager Donnie Scott and the Madison Mallards (15-11, 35-26) will look to salvage a split of their two-game set with a victory in Friday's finale at Joannes Stadium. Tonight's 7:05 p.m. affair will be the last of Madison's current seven-day, six-game road swing through South Division competition before returning to the Duck Pond on Saturday. Play-by-play coverage of Friday's game will be provided by 100.5 FM ESPN Madison beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Stomaching a rough outing from Dalton D'Spain (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) last night - 4.1 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K - the Mallards will turn to A.J. Bogucki (North Carolina) to provide a strong performance in Friday's regular-season finale against the Bullfrogs. Bogucki, a 6-foot-3 right-hander appearing in his second summer with the Mallards staff, enters tonight's contest on the heels of surrendering five runs across just one inning en route to a losing decision July 24 against La Crosse at the Duck Pond. Overall, Bogucki has managed a 3.89 ERA and 29:10 K/BB ratio over 37.0 frames.

Subsequent to Alex Martinez's (De Anza College) solid performance on Thursday against the Mallards - 5.0 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 2 K, W - the Bullfrogs will assign right-handed pitcher Ryan Radue (Connecticut) his tenth start of the summer in Friday's finale. Originally from Appleton, Wis., Radue has pitched to a 3.34 ERA and 41:27 K/BB ratio across 40.1 innings in his second campaign in the Northwoods League, including a 5-0 record. Prior to his July 26 against the Loggers, which Green Bay lost by a 4-3 mark, the Bullfrogs had been victorious in each of Radue's first eight starts of the summer.

The Mallards will return to the Duck Pond on Saturday, August 1 against the Wisconsin Woodchucks (10-16, 22-39). Next Saturday will feature The Diamond Center Diamond Dig post-game, ice-cream scoop giveaway as well as a free Kids Clinic from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. presented by Zimbrick-Honda. For game tickets or inquiries regarding Saturday's Kids Clinic, call the Mallards Ticket Office at 608-246-4277 or visit www.MallardsBaseball.com for more information.
