Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Rockford, Ill. - The Kingfish lost their fourth straight game tonight as they fell to the Rivets by a final score of 2-1.
While coming in defeat, the Kingfish saw two excellent pitching performances from their staff. Charlie Hecht took the mound for the Kingfish and worked 5.1 innings. He allowed 5 hits and two runs, while striking out 7. He picked up right where he left off against Green Bay last week, though he still took the loss.
Tommy Hanson followed Hecht's lead by pitching 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball, striking out three along the way. Rockford could only muster one mere hit off of Hanson, who kept the game close.
Offensively, the Kingfish scored their lone run on a Wes Weeks groundout, which brought home Nick Kanavas. Kanavas had a breakout performance, as he went 3 for 3 with a double. JD and Matt Hearn each collected one base hit, as did Pete Schuler and Kian O'Brien. Collectively, the Kingfish picked up 7 hits and 2 walks.
The Kingfish will attempt to rebound tomorrow as they host the Rivets back at Simmons Field. First pitch for that game will be at 7:05 CT.
