Great Start by Austin Hancock Not Enough, Bullfrogs Lose 6-0

Green Bay, Wis. - Austin Hancock (Lenoir Rhnye University) got the start for the Bullfrogs and left the ballgame with a one run deficit. After the eighth inning, the Bullfrogs were down five runs. The deficit was too large for the Bullfrogs to overcome as they fell to the Kalamazoo Growlers 6-0.

Hancock was cruising through four and two-thirds innings when Dan Leckie (Lafayette) hit a two out double and reached third off an error by Jonah Davis in right field. The next pitch got away from catcher Colton Onstott (Dodge City Community College) and Leckie scored from third to give the Growlers the lead, a lead they would not relinquish.

The Bullfrogs offense was unable to string hits together as they had three hits throughout the game. Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir Rhyne University), Hunter Owen (Indiana State), and Randell Kanemaru (Columbia) had the Bullfrogs three hits on the night.

It was the eigtht inning, once again, that plagued the Bullfrogs. Connor Jackson (UC-Berkeley), in his second inning of work, hit the leadoff batter Leckie. Harrisen Egly (Columbia) came into the ballgame to try to minimize the damage. Two walks, three hits, and four runs later Egly was replaced by Matt Gunter (Hawaii Pacific). Gunter was able to get a 1-5-3 double play to end the inning and stop the Growlers from scoring anymore runs.

For the Growlers, Larry Wood (Portland) looked impressive as he finished with seven strong innings giving up no runs and allowing three hits. Offensively, the Growlers were led by Dan Robinson (Central Michigan), two for four with an RBI, and Connor Kopach (Southern Illinois), two walks and a hit.

Dakota Klein will get the start for the Bullfrogs as he tries to end this three game losing streak. First pitch is slated for 6:35pm, gates open at 5:35.
