Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis.- In the second of a two game set, the Kingfish displayed sound hitting but couldn't slow down the Battle Creek Bombers offense. The Kingfish fell to the Bombers 10-5. The two teams split the series and the Kingfish fall to 13-12 on the year.
Pitcher Steven Klimek went an easy 1, 2, 3 in the first and struck out two of three in the first but couldn't keep the Bombers off base in the second. The Bombers got five hits, and five runs in the second inning to go up 5-2. Klimek was able to get in his routine and keep them quiet through the rest of his work. Callahan Brown came in the fourth and stymied the opposition, only allowing three runs in his five and one third innings pitched.
The highlight of the night came in the form of home runs. Pat Porter crushed a two run homer to right field in the first inning to go up 2-0. Later in the sixth, Zach Ratcliff homered to left center. Porter leads the Northwoods League in RBI and Ratcliff sits at second in home runs with seven on the year.
In the top of the ninth, the Bombers made a late night run and tacked on three more to reach the score of 10-5. The Kingfish will look to their next few games to close the five game gap in the South Division.
The Kingfish travel to Kalamazoo for a two game series and then to Battle Creek to face the Bombers once again. The Kingfish return to historic Simmons Field on Saturday, 28th and will have special guest Ozzie Guillen in attendance.
