Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Kenosha, Wis. - The Kingfish (13-16) had their 4-game win streak snapped at the hands of Kalamazoo tonight. The final score was 3-1 favoring the Growlers.

Kalamazoo scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning off of a fielder's choice and an RBI single. Nick Kanavas retaliated in the bottom of the 7th with an RBI single of his own. The game's final run came home for Kalamazoo in the 9th due to a throwing error by Kingfish shortstop Blake Reese.

The story of the game, however, was the exceptional pitching. Brendon Allen took the mound for the Kingfish and took a perfect game into the 6th inning. He finished with 6.2 innings of work, 4 hits allowed, 2 runs, and 4 strikeouts. The effort was not quite enough, however, as Allen took the loss.

Kyle Michalik made his Northwoods League debut and threw 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 hit, 1 unearned run, and struck out 3.

The Kingfish offense was held to just 4 hits today. Nick Kanavas led the way as he went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Gunnar McNeill went 1 for 3, and Matt Byars picked up his first hit as a Kingfish with a double.

The Kingfish have their first off day of the season tomorrow. They will host Battle Creek tomorrow at 7:05 CT.
