Kilkenny, Mallards Eye Sweep of Lakeshore
June 28, 2016 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Madison Mallards News Release
After a sensational outing in his Mallards debut, Mitchell Kilkenny (Texas A&M) will look to lead the Mallards (17-10) to their third-consecutive victory, as they take on the Lakeshore Chinooks (11-18) in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Kilkenny threw five shutout innings against Kalamazoo in his only start of the season, striking out four and allowing six hits in that start. He would eventually get the win, making him 1-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA in 2016. He'll face a Lakeshore team that hits .226 against right-handers and .232 at home.
The Chinooks will throw right-hander Joey Abraham (Vanderbilt) tonight, a pitcher who is no stranger to the Mallards nine this season. Abraham faced the Mallards back on June 9th at Warner Park, a game in which the Chinooks would eventually go on to win. Before the rain hit, Abraham had allowed no hits through two complete innings, walking five and striking out three. On the season, Abraham is 1-2 with a 3.37 ERA and 2.00 WHIP.
Continuing their tear on the road, Madison will attempt to win their 12th road game in 15 attempts tonight. The Mallards have hit .307 on the road with 17 home runs and 80 RBIs.
Hitting safely in his last nine contests, Zach Jarrett (UNC-Charlotte) hopes to keep swinging his red-hot bat against the Chinooks this evening. The outfielder is hitting .333 with two home runs and eight RBIs in Madison's last ten games.
The Mallards will return to the Duck Pond tomorrow, Wednesday, June 29th to take on the Rockford Rivets at 7:05 pm. The theme for the game will be 80's Night, with a tribute to Prince. It will also be Mullet Night at Warner Park, where fans can earn one dollar off of a hot dog for every inch of their authentic mullet. Do the math and we'll pay you to eat a hot dog! Tickets are available for purchase by visiting MallardsBaseball.com, calling the Mallards ticket office at 608-246-4277, or stopping in the ticket office at 2920 N Sherman Ave.
