Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y., Jan. 16, 2007) - Long Island Ducks catcher Brad King has been signed by the Minnesota Twins organization and given an invite to Spring Training in Fort Myers, Fla.

"This is a great opportunity for me," said King, a 2006 Atlantic League All-Star. "Playing for Long Island definitely prepared me for this chance with the Twins. While with the Ducks, I had the chance to catch a big league pitching staff and that experience helped me get noticed by another great organization."

In 72 games with Long Island, the Philadelphia native registered a .259 batting average with 16 doubles and seven home runs while driving in 36 runs. If King does not make the Twins Opening Day roster, he will report to the Rochester Red Wings (AAA) of the International League. He has previously reached the Triple-A level with Nashville (Pittsburgh, 2003) and Oklahoma (Texas, 2002).

The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Citibank Park and are entering their eighth season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The franchise has led the league in attendance in each season of existence and boasts and all-time average attendance of 6,099 in 6,002-seat Citibank Park (101.6% of capacity).
