Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
Bridgeport, CT- Nov 17, 2006 The Bridgeport Bluefish have announced that the team's loveable and ubiquitous mascot, B.B. the Bluefish, has begun a comprehensive wellness program.
At a specially called meeting, B.B. told members of the Bluefish front office staff that he always makes New Year's Resolutions and breaks them but this year he was particularly inspired by the ABC Primetime show that challenged Bluefish employees to lose weight. He said his colleagues were especially admirable because they lost weight in the middle of the baseball season when hot dogs, peanuts, and cotton candy are so plentiful.
B.B.'s New Year resolution is to eat smaller portions of healthy food and to exercise regularly. Impressed by the success of the Bluefish's competitors, employees from Bigelow Tea, B.B. will also add Bigelow's Green Tea to his diet. Long an admirer of Joe Torre, B.B. said, "Any tea good enough for Joe is good enough for me. " He also wondered if former Yankee great Tommy John, who is now the Manager of the Bridgeport Bluefish, drinks Bigelow Tea. John could not be reached for comment.
B.B. did not disclose his New Year's resolution earlier as he wanted to develop his program of wellness, get started on his new routine and surprise his fellow workers. B.B. encourages others in the front office to join him but especially asked for support of his efforts. B.B.'s goal is to be a sleeker, faster and more nimble fish by May 4th, the opening day of the Bluefish 2007 season. B.B. invites all Bluefish fans out to the ballpark on May 4th to see his new physique.
Bill Larson, GM of the Bridgeport Bluefish, said, "We all love B.B. and applaud his new approach to his health. We'll support him every step of the way."
The meeting concluded with a group hug and the entire front office staff followed B.B. out to the field where they joined him in a jog around the warning track. Updates on B.B.'s progress are sure to follow.
