Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., Jan. 16, 2007) - The Long Island Ducks, members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, are currently seeking members of the community that are interested in becoming host families for a Ducks player during the 2007 season. Those interested should contact Paul DeGrocco, promotions manager, at (631) 940-DUCK or send an email to pdegrocco@liducks.com.
"Hosting a player gives fans the rare opportunity to get involved with the Long Island Ducks on a personal level," says Ducks general manager Michael Pfaff. "Ducks players often become an "adopted" member of the host family during their time on Long Island. Year in and year out, hosting a player has been a positive experience for everyone involved."
To become a host family, all that is needed is a private bedroom, use of a bathroom, washer/dryer and kitchen. Any other amenities that host families can provide are always greatly appreciated by the players.
The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Citibank Park and just completed their seventh season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The franchise has led the league in attendance in each season of existence and boasts and all-time average attendance of 6,099 in 6,002-seat Citibank Park (101.6% of capacity).
