King County Royals News Release

AUBURN, Wash. - The King County Royals set a new team record for points scored as they routed the visiting Big Valley Shockwave, 153-111, in an American Basketball Association game at Green River Community College on Wednesday.

The Royals dominated the game from start to finish, outscoring the visiting Shockwave every quarter in a match-up between two last-place teams in the ABA's Western Conference.

Tim Ellis, in his third game this season with the Royals, once again dominated the game with a 45 point, 14 rebound performance. The Royals were able to avenge a 92-87 loss to Big Valley on the road last month, before Ellis had joined the squad.

After briefly leading the game, at 8-7 in the opening stages, the Shockwave gave up the lead for good at 7:47 of the first quarter. The Shockwave trailed by seven halfway though the second quarter before the Royals went on a 18-3 run to extend their lead to 22 with 2:23 left in the first half.

The Shockwave were unable to mount any sort of comeback in the second half as the Royals led by no fewer than 21 for the entire second half.

King County shot 59.4 percent from the floor, thanks in part to a 19-for-26 from Ellis and a 13-for-19 night from Randy Green, who scored 28 points.

Sante Gayle led three Shockwave players with double-doubles by scoring 39 points and pulling down ten rebounds.

The Shockwave conclude their Washington state road trip as they travel to Bellingham to take on the Slam on Friday night at Whatcom Pavilion.
