Bellingham Slam News Release

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Four Bellingham Slam players are ranked among the American Basketball Association's individual statistical leaders, according to the league's mid-season statistical report released today.

Forward Mike Parker, the team's leading scorer and All-Star Game representative, is ranked fifth in the ABA in scoring with 28.3 points per game. Guard Jacob Stevenson also finds himself ranked, at number 21, with a 22.0 points per game scoring average.

Parker is also the only Slam player to rank nationally in two separate categories, as he ranks fifth in steals with 3.1 per game.

The two statistical categories which Slam players are ranked highest are for rebounds and assists, with center Brian Dennis ranked third with an 11.8 rebounding average, and guard Scott Freymond also third with a 6.7 assist average. Freymond recently completed his second triple-double in two weeks in the Slam's 139-96 victory over the Big Valley Shockwave on Tuesday.

As a team, the Slam find themselves ranked eighth this week in the ABA's power rankings, which determine playoff positioning. Should the Slam maintain a top eight ranking, the team would receive a first round bye in the playoffs in March, and host a second round playoff game at home.

The Slam, who lead the ABA's Western Conference with a 17-6 record, conclude a six game home stand Friday as they take on the Big Valley Shockwave at 7 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion.
