Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release

THE SKINNY: The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (23-28-6) return to the State Farm Arena fresh of a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Eagles on Saturday night. The 45-save shutout recorded by Pagliero was the very first registered at the Budweiser Events Center. Aaron Lee and Aaron Lewicki potted the goals for the Bees, both on the power-play which went 2-4. The Bees penalty kill also stepped up holding the potent Colorado power-play to 0-8.

The 45-save performance was a season-high for saves in Pagliero in his third shutout of the season. Pagliero is currently second in the CHL in saves and minutes played and sits in a tie for third with his three shutouts. Pagliero is also starting to climb the Bees all-time leader board sitting third in overall wins and shutouts in Bees history.

The Killer Bees currently sit in seventh place in the Berry Conference with a magic number of 14 points, or seven regulation games in order to clinch a playoff spot. The Bees currently have a four-point lead over ninth-place Laredo and a one point advantage over eighth place Arizona. The Bees sit two points behind sixth place Odessa.

BEES NEED TO KNOW:

. The Bees captured the first-ever Cricket Mayor's Cup over rival Laredo with their 3-2 victory on Feb. 26. For the season the Bees finished with a 9-5-2 record against the Bucks, winning the cup with a 20-17 edge.

. There are plenty of Bees among the CHL league leaders; Aaron Lewicki leads all rookies in goals, assists and points. Lewicki's lead continues to grow and currently has 10 more points than any other rookie. Darcy Campbell leads defensemen in points and assists.

. Note quite road warriors. The Bees only have two road games left this season, playing the final seven of nine games at the State Farm Arena.

. Zak McClellan, who was named captain at the start of the season, now owns the Killer Bees all-time record for shorthanded goals with nine scoring two this season scoring most recently Feb. 11 in Wichita while the Bees were killing off a 5-on-3.

. The 2011 CHL Trade deadline has passed and prior to the deadline the Bees made three trades;

Jan. 15- Sean Muncy to Missouri for Dominic D'Amour

Jan. 17- Jake Obermeyer to Evansville for Bo Cheesman

Feb. 01- Future considerations to Quad City for Jerad Kaufmann

ATTENTION: Wednesday's game against the Arizona Sundogs is NOT open to the general public. The game is the Killer Bees annual Kid's Day game and the crowd will be made entirely of Valley elementary school children. The puck is set to drop at 10:30 a.m.
