Richmond Kickers News Release

RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond Kickers continue a month-long road stint this Saturday, July 6 when they travel to Beavercreek High School to take on the Dayton Dutch Lions. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., live on USLnation.com.

Carrying a 5-0-1 series advantage into the weekend, the Kickers meet the third-year Dutch Lions for the first time this season, having last met at City Stadium on July 21, 2012 when forward Matthew Delicâte became Richmond's all-time leading scorer with a stoppage time penalty kick in the home side's hard-fought 2-0 win. Earlier that season, the two clubs met in Dayton when the Kickers narrowly salvaged a point in stoppage time after conceding the lead within the first minute.

After playing 11 of their first 12 games at home, the Kickers picked up four points on the road last weekend. Snapping Orlando City's 25-game regular season unbeaten streak at the Florida Citrus Bowl Saturday night, the third-place Kickers downed the USL PRO leaders 2-0. Scoreless through the first half, Kickers forward Michael Seaton broke the ice with a 57th minute tally before a Brian Ownby bicycle kick solidified the scoreline 20 minutes later. The Kickers concluded the grueling back-to-back Florida road trip with a scoreless draw against USL PRO expansion VSI Tampa Bay FC 24 hours later when goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra posted six saves to preserve his second shutout in as many matches and move his side within two points of the lead at the top of the league standings.

Conceding just two losses this season, the Dutch Lions reside in seventh place in the USL PRO standings with 23 points through 14 games. Undefeated since early May, the Dutch Lions most recently battled a talented Charlotte side to a 2-2 draw in Dayton, twice rallying from behind when Joel DeLass and Shane Smith equalized on either side of the half to preserve their nine-game unbeaten streak. The Dutch Lions are scheduled to battle the Rochester Rhinos on Thursday, July 4 before hosting the Kickers two days later at Beavercreek High School.

Following this weekend's game, the Kickers continue their gauntlet of July road matches with a back-to-back trip to Rochester and Harrisburg and a three-games-in-six-days west coast swing to face the Phoenix FC Wolves, LA Blues and Vancouver Whitecaps FC Reserves before returning to City Stadium to conclude their two-game regular season series with Dayton at City Stadium on Saturday, August 10.
