Rhinos In Dayton on Independence Day

ROCHESTER, NY - The Rochester Rhinos travel to Dayton, Ohio for a match with the Dayton Dutch Lions on Thursday, July 4th at 1:00PM in Beavercreek Stadium. The match was originally scheduled to kickoff at 7:00PM, but was moved to the afternoon due to Independence Day celebrations in the area around the stadium.

The Rhinos enter the match with Dayton on Thursday afternoon unbeaten in their last five matches. Rochester is 2 - 0 - 3 during their unbeaten run, and they have outscored their opponents seven to three. After a 1 - 7 - 3 start that saw the Rhinos take only six of a possible 33 points, Rochester has taken nine points out of a possible 15 in their last five matches. The Rhinos are currently in 11th place in the USL PRO table - six points behind eighth place Pittsburgh for the final playoff spot with ten matches left to play.

Rochester goalkeeper Kristian Nicht has played in all five of the matches during the Rhinos unbeaten streak. He has faced 33 shots and made 23 saves. Nicht has only allowed three goals for a 0.60 goals-against average in the last five matches, and he has kept two clean sheets. Last season the 31 year old veteran of the German Bundesliga posted a 12-7-4 record with a 0.91 goals against average, 88 saves, and a league leading 11 clean sheets. Nicht was voted the club's co-Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-USL PRO, and the USL PRO Goalkeeper of the Year. Nicht's 11 shutouts was the third best single season total in club history.

Rochester Rhinos veteran Scottish striker Tam McManus has been the club's leading scorer during the five match unbeaten streak. McManus has two goals and one assist over the past five matches, which is a better scoring record than he produced all of last season. He began his career in Scotland where he made over 100 appearances for Hibs in the Premier League. He led the club in scoring in 2003 with 11 goals. McManus played for Colorado in 2008 and scored six goals in 20 appearances. In 2012 he scored one goal and added two assists as a withdrawn forward with the Rhinos.

The Dayton Dutch Lions enter the match in seventh place in the USL PRO table with 23 points from a 6 - 2 - 5 record. The Dutch Lions are unbeaten in their last nine matches, and they have outscored their opponents 18 to 13 during their streak. Dayton is led by forward Gibson Bardsley and midfielder Joel DeLass who both have five goals and one assist for 11 points. The duo ranks tied for 12thin the league in points and tied for eighth in USL PRO in goals scored. The Dutch Lions are 4 - 1 - 3 in Beavercreek Stadium this season, and they have scored 17 goals in their first eight home matches. Dayton's only loss at home was a 1:0 result against Charleston on May 3rd.
