Richmond, VA â (Friday, July 16, 2004) â In front of 6,176 spectators at U of R Stadium on Friday night the Richmond Kickers and Nottingham Forest of the English First Division battled to a 1-1 tie. Kickers rookie Tim Brown scored in the 16th minute on a perfectly placed header off a Kevin Jeffrey corner kick, however Matthiew Louis-Jean of Nottingham tied the game in 81st minute with a cross that seemed to fool everyone and landed in the side netting.
Minute-By-Minute Highlights
5th minute: Ball played through to Nottingham's David Johnson, he takes a touch and attempts a right footed chip from 20 yards out, Hesmer is off his line, but recovers to make a diving save.
16th minute: GOAL Richmond: 1 Nottingham Forest: 0 Kickers receive a corner kick taken by Kevin Jeffrey. Ball is played to the near post; Tim Brown makes a sharp cut and heads the ball in the lower corner for the goal.
35th minute: Tim Brown steals the ball at midfield, plays wide to a streaking Kevin Jeffrey. Jeffrey collects the ball on the right flank, fakes wide, cuts inside and takes a shot. Gerrard is in position to dive on the ball.
40th minute: Lekics makes a dash down the right sideline. Cristoff Lindenmeyer plays the ball to him in stride. Lekics takes the ball to the touchline and attempts a shot. Gerrard is in perfect position to make the save.
42nd minute: Ukrop wins the ball at midfield and plays a brilliant through-ball to a speeding Jeffrey. Jeffrey touches to his right and takes a shot. Gerrard comes off his line to make the save.
45th minute: Andy Reid makes a run down the right flank, beats a defender, and crosses the ball to the far post. Gareth Taylor comes flying in the box, gets a solid head on the ball, it hits the crossbar. The rebound comes to David Johnson who attempts a bicycle kick that's just wide.
54th minute: Richmond corner taken by Kevin Jeffrey. Defense cannot clear the ball, Rob Ukrop attempts a left-footed shot, and the ball deflects high. Cristoff Lindenmeyer heads the ball down, it bounces around, Joe Vidmar gets off a weak shot and Darren Ward makes the save.
59th minute: Eugen Bopp gains control of the ball just inside the eighteen. He settles the ball, on his left foot, takes a shot and its blocked by a sliding Chris Brown.
62nd minute: Nottingham's Kevin James brings the ball down the right sideline. Plays a high floating ball to the far post, Eugen Bopp streaks in and hits the ball just wide of the goal.
66th minute: Cristoff Lindenmeyer fouled 20 yards out. Kevin Jeffrey takes the free kick from the left side. The ball bends to the far post where Matt Pauls misses an attempt on goal.
81st minute: GOAL Richmond: 1 Nottingham Forest: 1 Nottingham's Matthieu Louis-Jean wins the ball on the right flank, takes a few touches and has a shot. Hesmer is out of position; the ball floats over his head into the far corner for the goal.
83rd minute: Tim Brown wins a fifty-fifty ball at midfield. He plays the spilt to a sprinting Matt Delicate, he gets a slight touch on the ball, but cannot get full control. Ward comes off his line and makes the diving save.
