Frederick Keys News Release
The Keys finished its season opening eight-game road trip with a winning record, upending Myrtle Beach 7-4 for its third consecutive win to head home for opening night in Frederick at 5-3 overall.
Frederick jumped on the Pelicans early, scoring three first inning runs behind a one-out bases loaded double by RF Kraig Binick. Binick would go 2-for-4 on an evening in which the Keys would never trail.
Myrtle Beach plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning against Keys starter Zach Britton but the Keys would not look back. Frederick loaded the bases four times in nine innings and would put the game away late.
Leading 5-2 in the eighth inning the Keys put together a two-out rally that culminated in 1B Brandon Waring's bases loaded two-run single to extend the advantage to 7-2. Waring finished the game with a season-high three RBI's.
The Keys would get out of trouble atop the hill via the strikeout as the team set down a season-high 13 batters in the game. The Pelicans left ten men on base.
Frederick heads home for its opening night Friday, April 17th at 7:00 p.m. against the Salem Red Sox. Fans will receive a Magnet Schedule and Fireworks will follow the game.
