P-Nats Sweep Red Sox, Head Home 4-4

The Potomac Nationals swept their doubleheader with the Salem Red Sox and finished their season opening eight-game road trip with a 4-4 record. Two four-run innings propelled the Nationals to an 8-2 victory in game one. Chris Marrero had two doubles and three RBI's for the good guys in game one while Francisco Plasencia added his second home run of the year in support of P-Nats' starter Erik Arnesen who won his first game of the year. The righty allowed just one run on five hits and struck out a season-high five batters in five innings of work.

In game two, Tim Pahuta drove in two runs in support of Tom Milone who pitched six strong innings in his second Carolina League start. It took extra innings however and the Nationals scored four runs in the top of the 8th off of Sox reliever Josh Papelbon to pick up a 5-1 win in the nightcap from Lewis-Gale Field. Jesus Valdez also had two hits and drove in one for Potomac in game two.

Potomac now heads home to open Pfitzner Stadium against the Myrtle Beach pelicans and you can hear all the action from Opening Day beginning at 7:05 on Friday on Potomac Nationals.com
