
Keys Fall to Crosscutters in First of Three Game Series

Williamsport, PA - The Frederick Keys fell by a final score of 5-2 on Tuesday night at Historic Bowman Field against the Williamsport Crosscutters.
The Keys scored first for just the fourth time this season, and are now 0-4 in contests when scoring the first run. Frederick leadoff man Kevin Jimenez beat out an infield single to start the game. Jimenez advanced to second on a passed ball and was followed by Tyler Doanes who singled to right field, leaving runners at first and third. Paul Komistek, in his first at-bat as a Key, drove in a run grounding out to second.
Dwayne Marshall started his third game of the season for the Keys making his longest start of the season. For the first time, he got run support in the contest with the first inning run. Williamsport tied the game at 1-1 in the third on a single by Michael Turconi.
The Keys regained the lead at 2-1 in the top half of the 5th, after Max Ryerson hit a lead off triple. The ball hit off the top of the wall and Ryerson had to hustle to third to beat out the throw. He would come to score on Eddie McCabe's second sacrifice fly of the season.
Marshall threw four and a third innings, getting himself into trouble in the bottom half of the 5th. After hitting the first batter of the inning, Marshall was removed from the game and Jack Enger inherited runners on first and second. The game was blown open as Nolan Wosman roped a bases clearing double to left field to give the Crosscutters a 5-2 lead.
Frederick went silently in the 6th and 7th innings but threatened in both the 8th and 9th innings bringing the tying run to the plate both times. In the 8th Doanes and Jimenez ran a double steal successfully. With two runners in scoring positon, Herron Jr. was called out on strikes on an inside fastball in a 3-2 count. In the 9th, Mason Auer struck out on a similar pitch and was punched out representing the tying run to end the game.
The Keys are back in action on Wednesday against the Crosscutters at 7:05 PM. The Keys return home this Friday against the Trenton Thunder for an action packed weekend.
