Frederick Keys News Release
FREDERICK, MD - The Keys lost their season-high sixth straight game by a score of 6-1 to the Lynchburg Hillcats in front of 6, 428 fans at Harry Grove Stadium to close out the first half of the season.
Five of Lynchburg's six runs were unearned as three Keys errors helped Lynchburg complete a four-game sweep of Frederick. Lynchburg is now 11-3 against the Keys and 7-0 against Frederick at Harry Grove Stadium.
The Keys finish the first half of the season with a 27-43 record - the worst in the Carolina League and in Advanced-A. They end the first half of the season having lost nine of their past ten games.
Lynchburg's four unearned runs in the fourth inning opened up a 5-0 lead for the Hillcats and they went into cruise control from there as they limited the Keys to one run on five hits.
Up 1-0 entering the fourth, Lynchburg's fortuitous inning was started with a triple by Tommy La Stella. A throwing error from Garabez Rosa with two outs allowed La Stella to score and the inning to continue. After a single from David Rohm put a second runner on base, Matt Weaver hit a three-run homerun to give Lynchburg their comfortable 5-0 lead.
Down 6-0 in the seventh inning, Mike Flacco got the Keys on the scoreboard when he hit his fifth homerun of the year.
Trent Howard was charged with the loss after giving up just one earned run as his record stands at 1-4 while holding a 5.08 ERA.
Dimasther Delgado, after giving up just one earned one run through seven innings, gets the win for Lynchburg.
Dylan Bundy, Ty Kelly, and Jeremy Nowak will head to Winston-Salem to play in the Carolina League vs. California League all-star game. There will be a three-day pause in the schedule for the annual all-star game.
The Keys start the second half of the season with a fresh 0-0 record which starts up on Thursday at Harry Grove Stadium against Myrtle Beach.
