Carolina Cobras News Release

GREENSBORO - Carolina has signed pair of offensive linemen from UNC Pembroke, Lawrence Keys (6'2", 310) and Demetrius Briggs (6'4", 325).

Keys, a native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, played football at Wakefield High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he earned all-conference honors and recorded 62 pancake blocks.

Briggs, a Fayetteville, North Carolina, native, attended and played football for E.E. Smith High School, where he recorded 54 pancake blocks his senior year.

"Protecting our quarterback this season is our number one focus," states head coach Billy Back. "Technique and footwork is great and all but when it comes down to it you just have to be physical, nasty and mean." In addition, Back adds that "these two guys play with an attitude and aggression that we liked. You can never have enough good offensive linemen."

The Cobras have signed many offensive linemen this off-season. In coach Back's eyes, this helps breed success. "Come camp time, the competition we have will separate the men from [the] boys."
