
Kerry Robinson and Bob Dernier Added to 2018 Legends Game

NORMAL, Ill. - With two weeks until the 3rd Annual 2018 Legends Game, the Normal CornBelters have announced the addition of Kerry Robinson and Bob Dernier to the roster.
Robinson, a St. Louis native, graduated from Hazelwood East High School as a three-sport He attended Southeast Missouri State University where the St. Louis Cardinals in the 34th round of the 1995 MLB June Amateur Draft drafted him. He then became a member of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays as the 44th pick in the 1997 expansion draft and made his pro debut in their inaugural season. He is most remembered by Cardinals fans for his game-winning, walk-off home run against the Chicago Cubs in 2003. Throughout Robinson's seven-year MLB career he played for the Rays, Reds, Cardinals, Padres and Royals organizations holding a career .267 batting average, 3 home runs, 56 RBIs and 36 stolen bases.
Most recently, Robinson competed in the 2018 Frontier League Home Run Derby where he knocked five home runs. He currently serves as a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Dernier joins the Legends Game for the third straight year. The centerfielder played for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs. He served as the leadoff hitter for the Cubs' 1984 N.L. East division championship team. Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg batted second and the lead-off pair was known as "The Daily Double" by Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Caray. That season the Kansas City native had his best career; batting .278 with 26 doubles, 32 RBI, and 45 stolen bases while drawing more walks (63) than strikeouts (60). Also during 1984 Dernier was a Gold Glove Award winner and is remembered by many for his leadoff home run in the 1984 National League Championship Series
Concluding his playing career, he was named the Cubs major league first base coach on August 23, 2010, after serving as the team's minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator since 2007. He remained a Cub coach until 2012.
The third-annual Legends Game will feature; Jim Edmonds, Ray Lankford, Fernando Tatis, Kerry Robinson, Bob Dernier Derek Lee, Kyle Farnsworth, Aramis Ramirez.
