Kernels Homestand Preview: April 25-30

The Kernels are red hot and the weather's starting to warm up too as the Kernels open a six game home stand this Thursday! Here's a preview of what you can expect these six games:

April 25-27 vs. Great Lakes

The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium to host the Great Lakes Loons, the Midwest League affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, in the first three games of a six game home stand.

The homestand kicks off on Thursday, April 25th with Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday where 12 oz. regular draft beer, bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game. It's also College Night - any student that shows a valid college ID receives a Club ticket for $7.00, a coupon for two slices of pizza and can enter into a drawing for $100 cash! Gates open at 5:30 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Great Lakes is set for 6:35 pm.

You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Friday, April 26th as the first 500 fans through the gates receive a free 2013 Kernels Team Photo, thanks to Copyworks and Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo will also be passing out free Sharpies(tm) to help get those team photos autographed. It's also a 98.1 KHAK Kernels Mug Club Night - buy a 16 oz. collector's mug for $6.00 and get it filled at the concession stand with regular draft beer or soda. Bring it back to the stands during the game, and EVERY Friday home game, for $3.00 refills. The Kernels welcome students and family members from Echo Hill, Garfield, and Linn Grove Elementary schools to the stadium. First pitch between the Kernels and Loons is set for 6:35 pm.

It's our annual Wings & Beer Night on the Arctic Insulation Party Plaza on Saturday, April 27th when the Kernels take on Great Lakes at 5:05 pm. For just $25, get all you can eat and drink for three hours on the Party Plaza, plus 10 tickets for sampling wings. Local breweries, wineries and distilleries will also be sampling their products. Already got your game ticket? No problem - just upgrade at the Ticket Office for $16! The Kernels welcome the following schools to their night at the stadium: Johnson School, Madison Elementary, Norway Elementary and Penn Elementary. Gates open at 4:00 pm.

April 28-30 vs. Lansing

The Kernels continue the six game home stand with three games against the Lansing Lugnuts, the Midwest League affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, featuring former C.R. Jefferson prep star, Kellen Sweeney.

It's Halfway to Halloween Day at the Ballpark when the Kernels take on Lansing on Sunday, April 28th at 2:05 pm. Come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume as there will be a costume contest for kids and adults during the game and trick or treat stations on the concourse. Enjoy face painting by Kennedy and play Baseball Bingo during the game, presented by Travel Advisors and the Radisson near Mall of America. After the game, get ready for the Candy Drop where a helicopter drops candy on the field for boys and girls to pick up. Also, fans can play catch in the outfield after the game, as part of 104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday. Gates open at 1:00 pm.

Bring some dollar bills to the ballpark on Monday, April 29th when the Kernels host Lansing at 6:35 pm for Dollar Monday. Regular hot dogs, popcorn, chips, ice cream sandwiches and Cracker Jack are each $1 at every Monday home game. The Kernels welcome special guests from Cedar Valley Christian School, Erskine Elementary and Indian Creek Elementary to the game. Gates open at 5:30 pm.

Who's looking for a little daytime baseball? Well, take a break from the office for our first Noon Game of the season on Tuesday, April 30th, presented by 104.5 KDAT. It's also Great Clips Twins Tuesday. Get an on-line coupon from the Kernels Facebook page or email newsletter with a 2 for 1 ticket offer. The Kernels will wear replica Minnesota Twins jerseys and fans can win a pair of Twins tickets that will be given away during the game. Gates open at 11 am for Tuesday's noon game with Lansing.

104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday: Every Sunday home game, play Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo, co-sponsored by the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see a Twins game. And after the game, kids (and adults) can run the bases and play catch on the field and get autographs from the Kernels. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon on the concourse and face painting by Kennedy. World Class Juggler Doug Sayers will be here on select Sundays.

Dollar Monday: Regular hot dogs, small popcorn, ice cream sandwiches, chips and Cracker Jacks are each $1 on Monday home games.

Great Clips Twins Tuesday: Get an on-line coupon from the Kernels Facebook page or email newsletter for a 2 for 1 ticket offer at Tuesday home games as part of Twins Tuesday, presented by Great Clips. The Kernels will wear replica Twins jerseys and fans can register to win a pair of Twins tickets that will be given away each Tuesday home game.

Free Money Wednesday: Up to $1,000 will be given away at the main gates at every Wednesday home game with $100 as the top cash prize.

Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday: 12 oz. regular draft beer, 20 oz. bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game.

98.1 KHAK Kernels Friday Mug Club: Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug filled with your favorite regular draft beer or soda for just $6.00 and get refills at the Kernels concessions stands for just $3.00. Bring the mug back to every Kernels Friday home game for those $3.00 refills.

Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com ; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
