Your first-place Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium to open a six-game home stand! Here's a preview of what you can expect these next six dates:
May 25-27 vs. Burlington
During all six games, the Kernels will have free will donation containers at the concession stands and at Interstate Batteries Guest Services. The donations will be given to the American Red Cross to assist those affected by the Oklahoma tornadoes.
The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium to host the Burlington Bees, the Midwest League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
May the force be with you or will you turn to the dark side? It's Star Wars Night on Saturday, May 25th. Come dressed in your favorite Star Wars costume for a pre-game parade on the field and a costume contest for adults and kids during the game. The Kernels are wearing special jerseys that will be sold via a silent auction with the proceeds to benefit Make-A-Wish Iowa. Members of the 501st Central Garrison will be on hand during the games for photos and after the game, enjoy a spectacular FIREWORKS show presented by media sponsor, I107.1 KRQN. Tickets for fireworks nights are VERY popular, so contact the Kernels Ticket Office or order yours on-line at www.kernels.com. Gates open at 5:30 pm and the Kernels take on Burlington at 6:35 pm.
Another big day is on tap for Sunday, May 26th. It's a 104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday where fans can play catch in the outfield and get autographs from the Kernels players on the field after the game. World-class juggler Doug Sayers will be on hand to entertain fans throughout the game. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon and face painting by Kennedy Wilson on the concourse during the game and play Baseball Bingo during the game, presented by Travel Advisors and the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis. It's our second Bike to the Ballpark game. Fans are encouraged to ride their bikes to the ballpark and park in the safe parking provided by New Belgium Brewing. All those riding their bikes to the game and parking inside the stadium will be registered for a 4 pack of tickets to the New Belgium Pavilion outing on August 15th. After the game, it's the Chuck Fulton Home Run Derby, presented by the Kernels and Perfect Game USA. The home run derby is open to boys and girls ages 12 and under and is FREE. You can sign up the day of the game and Kernels hitting coach Tommy Watkins will be the BP pitcher. Gates open at 1:00 pm with first pitch between the Kernels and Burlington set for 2:05 pm.
Start Memorial Day out with the Kernels Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 10 am. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for kids 12-under with the net proceeds from the event going towards local Veterans Groups. Stay for the Memorial Day Ceremony at the All-Veterans Park starting at 10 am. And the Kernels take on Burlington at 2:05 pm with the gates opening at 1:00 pm. It's Dollar Monday where regular hot dogs, popcorn, chips, ice cream sandwiches and Cracker Jack are each $1.
May 28-30 vs. Clinton
The Kernels continue the current home stand with three games against the Clinton Lumberkings, the Midwest League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
It's Twins Tuesday, presented by Great Clips, on Tuesday, May 28th. Get an on-line coupon from the Kernels Facebook page or email newsletter with a 2 for 1 ticket offer. The Kernels will wear replica Minnesota Twins jerseys and fans can win a pair of Twins tickets that will be given away during the game. Gates open at 5:30 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Clinton is set for 6:35 pm.
You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, May 29th for Free Money Wednesday. The Kernels will give away up to $1,000 to fans as they enter through the gates with the top cash prize being $100. The Kernels welcome guests from Grant and Nixon Elementary schools to their night at the ballpark. First pitch between the Kernels and Lumberkings is set for 6:35 pm.
The Kernels honor the greats of the University of Iowa's wrestling program on Salute to Iowa Wrestling Night on Thursday, May 30th. The first 500 fans through the gates receive a free Iowa Wrestling t-shirt thanks to Iowa 24/7/365 and Ironside Apparel. Get autographs on the concourse with former Iowa Wrestling greats during the first two innings. It's a Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday where 12 oz. regular draft beer, bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game. The game will be broadcast on Mediacom Cable channel 22. Gates open at 5:30 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Clinton is set for 6:35 pm.

Free Money Wednesday: Up to $1,000 will be given away at the main gates at every Wednesday home game with $100 as the top cash prize.
Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday: 12 oz. regular draft beer, 20 oz. bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game.

Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
