
Kennedy Is Storm's Most Valuable

The Guelph Storm wrapped up their 2008-09 season on Saturday night at the Delta Hotel as they handed out their year-end awards. Captain Matt Kennedy (pictured with Head Coach / GM Jason Brooks) was named Most Valuable Player.
Five different players earned multiple awards on the evening with Matt Kenendy leading all recipients with five. The fourth-year forward capped off a terrific season that saw him increase his point totals from 21 to 73 by earning the Top Scorer Award, the Tony Camilleri "Playmaker Trophy' (shared with co-winner Brandon Buck), the Fan Club Fan Favourite Award, the Leadership Award (shared with co-winner Nathan Martine) and the MVP.
Other multiple award winners included Brandon Buck (Tony Camilleri 'Playmaker Trophy, Mike Kelly - Humanitarian Award, the Co-operators Award), and Peter Holland with three (Ivan Tennant Memorial Nominee, Paul Fendley Scholastic Player of the Year Award and the Biltmore Hat 'Hattrick Award" shared with co-winner Taylor Beck), while Nathan Martine (Top Defenceman Award, Leadership Award) and Tim Priamo (Fay Scott Memorial Award - Academics and Community, Ivan Tenant Memorial Award Nominee) each picked up two trophies.
Other members of the 2008-09 Storm that were honoured at the event were Ben Chiarot (Most Improved Player), Cody McNaughton (Wellington Motors Rookie of the Year). First round selection Carter Sandlak was also on hand and received the Lou Embro Memorial Award presented annually to the club's first round selection, while long time Storm Fan Club President Bill Scott was recognized for his commitment to the organization with the Wayne Smith Memorial Award.
