BOYDS, Md. (Nov 21, 2016) - Washington Spirit goalkeeper Kelsey Wys will miss the remainder of the 2016-2017 Westfield W-League season where she is on loan with the Newcastle Jets after tearing her right ACL. During Newcastle's match against Perth Glory on Sunday, November 20, Wys jumped up for a ball and came down awkwardly on her knee.

"We all feel terrible for Kelsey and the unfortunate knee injury she suffered playing in Australia," said Spirit general manager and head coach Jim Gabarra. "We are confident she will get through this setback."

Wys joined the Spirit via trade ahead of the 2015 NWSL season. The Coral Springs, Fla native started in 11 games for the Spirit in 2015. In 2016, Wys started 12 regular season matches and both postseason matches, recording 68 saves and two shutouts.
