Hoy Penalty Kick is Difference in 1-0 Perth Glory Defeat to Newcastle Jets

Sam Kerr and Nikki Stanton returned to Westfield W-League play in Australia over the weekend, as their Perth Glory side (1-1-1) fell to the Newcastle Jets by a slim 1-0 margin. Kerr created some great chances in the match, where the Perth captain started and played the full 90 minutes. Also playing end to end in the contest was Stanton, who fed a ball to Kerr in the 19^th minute that was nearly headed into the goal for an early go-ahead tally.

The difference in the match turned out to be a converted penalty kick in the 48^th minute by forward Jen Hoy, who is playing for Newcastle on loan from the Chicago Red Stars.
