Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets shutout the Kamloops Blazers 3-0 on Friday night in Kamloops.
Kole Lind(18) got the Rockets on the board first at 12:34 of the opening frame on a Kelowna power play. Kelowna held that lead into the second period.
Lind(19) got his second power play marker of the evening at 11:26 of the middle stanza to pull the Rockets ahead 2-0. Two minutes later Lind(20) completed his second hat-trick in his last four games to extend Kelowna's lead to three and the Rockets led 3-0 after 40 minutes.
The Rockets shut the door in the third period to hold on for a 3-0 victory.
James Porter's record improves to 15-5-2-0 after stopping all 28 shots he faced to record his second career shutout and second of the season. The Rockets outshot the Royals 33-28.
Kelowna's record improves to 22-11-2-1.
Kelowna was without Rockets Captain Cal Foote and Rockets Assistant Captain Dillon Dube as they are in Buffalo, NY taking part in the World Junior Championships for Team Canada. With Dube captaining the squad, they are currently 2-1-0-0 in round robin play after falling 4-3 in a shootout to the United States on Friday afternoon. Dube notched his first goal of the tournament in that contest. They play again on Saturday at 5:00pm PST facing off against the Denmark.
The Rockets are right back at it tomorrow night at Prospera Place when they host the Victoria Royals. Puck drop is 7:05pm.
