Memphis Redbirds News Release
Memphis, Tenn. â David Kelly will join the Memphis Redbirds broadcast crew in 2005, the team announced today. Kelly will call all 144 games on WHBQ Sports 56 alongside lead radio voice Steve Selby, and will also be a part of the 30 games televised by TV Time Warner. He will host the Redbirds pre-game radio show, "On Deck from AutoZone Park," that airs prior to every home game.
"We're excited about the qualities that David brings to the table," said Kerry Sewell, Redbirds vice president of marketing and communications. "Steve and David will make a great team on Redbirds Radio, and David's experience in Cleveland will allow us to maintain the high standards of our On Deck show."
Kelly spent the last four years at WTAM-1100 in Cleveland, where he covered the NFL's Cleveland Browns. He was also the postgame scoreboard anchor and talk show host for Cleveland Indians games. The University of Southern California graduate has previously done play-by-play for the Visalia Oaks and Port City Roosters and has worked at several TV and radio stations.
"I feel honored and blessed to have this opportunity to return to broadcasting the game that I so dearly love," Kelly said. "I look forward to becoming a part of the Redbirds family, meeting the fans of the team and starting my new life as a citizen of the Memphis community."
