LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the 2004 National League West Champion Los Angeles Dodgers, announced today that the baseball game on Monday, May 9 between the Sacramento River Cats, two-time defending PCL champion and Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, and the 51s will begin at a special time of 10:30 a.m. at Cashman Field.

The 51s will present "The Second Annual Cox Communications School Day" featuring a field trip available to 5th grade students in the Clark County School District.

Last season, the 51s hosted the Tucson Sidewinders in the special morning game. A crowd of 4,224 attended the contest.

"The game was a tremendous success last season and all of the students that attended had a great time," 51s President/General Manager Don Logan said. "The day is a fun and educational experience for the students with both the Tobacco Awareness Program and the opportunity to watch the 51s play baseball. We also thank Cox Communications for their partnership of this event."

The Tobacco Awareness Program, through the Clark County School District, is an important event that serves to educate the young students on the dangers of cigarette smoking.

The 51s, under manager Jerry Royster, will open their 23rd PCL season on Thursday, April 7 at Colorado Springs. The home opener is Friday, April 15, against Colorado Springs, at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field. Bank of America will present opening weekend (Friday-Tuesday, April 15-19). Season tickets and mini-plan packages (10, 20, 33-game plans) are available by calling the 51s office at (702) 798-7825 or log on to the team's website.

The 51s have an exciting list of promotions for the 2005 season. A total of 34 promotion dates have been announced. The traditional fireworks shows and 51s and Dodgers giveaway items will highlight the promotion dates.
