SPRING TRAINING UPDATE â The Washington Nationals will play the Atlanta Braves this evening at the Disney Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. DC is 8-6 in Grape Fruit League action.
NATIONALS ROSTER MOVES -- The Washington Nationals today optioned first baseman Larry Broadway and right-handed pitcher Danny Rueckel to Triple-A New Orleans, as well as right-handed pitcher Darrell Rasner to Double-A Harrisburg. The Nationals also reassigned catchers John Wilson and Hector Ortiz to minor league camp. In addition, the Nationals placed infielder Henry Mateo (right-shoulder tendinitis) and right-handed pitcher Claudio Vargas (right-elbow sprain) on the 15-Day Disabled List. Nationals General Manager Jim Bowden made the announcements.
AAA OPENER - The spring training opener for New Orleans will be on Friday afternoon in Viera, Florida. The Zephyrs spring training squad will host the Richmond Braves.

ZEPHYR INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT -- The Zephyrs will host the 8th annual Zephyr Invitational High School Tournament on this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The schedule for the tournament is as follows:
Thursday, March 17: Jesuit vs. Hahnville (4:00 pm); Holy Cross vs. Destrehan (7:15 pm)
Friday, March 18: Jesuit vs. Destrehan (4:00 pm); Brother Martin vs. Central Lafourche (7:30 pm)
Saturday, March 19: Brother Martin vs. Destrehan (11:00 am); Jesuit vs. Central Lafourche (2:30 pm); Holy Cross vs. Hahnville (6:00 pm)
Sunday, March 20: Holy Cross vs. Central Lafourche (12:00 pm); Brother Martin vs. Hahnville (3:00 pm)
LSU vs. SOUTHEASTERN â The College Baseball season continues at Zephyr Field next week. The 5th ranked Tigers will host the Lions next Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
OPENING DAY â Zephyrs will open the season in Nashville on April 7th. The home opener is Friday, April 15th against the AAA Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Nashville Sounds. Individual Game Tickets for the Zephyrs will go sale April 2nd.
