
Keller to New Orleans; Beggs to Jacksonville

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a pair of transactions that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp roster prior to tonight's game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Blue Wahoos Stadium at 7:35 p.m. eastern.
Right-handed relief pitcher Kyle Keller has been transferred from Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans. Keller has pitched in 24 games for Jacksonville this season, going 1-3 with a 4.34 ERA with four saves. This is the first call-up to the Triple-A level in his career.
In a corresponding move, right-handed starting pitcher Dustin Beggs has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. Beggs made seven starts for the Hammerheads, going 2-2 with a 2.01 ERA in his 44 and two-thirds innings of work. Beggs started the season with Single-A Greensboro, where he was 3-1 with a 2.66 ERA in his 14 appearances and four starts. Beggs, 25, is a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and he was selected by the Marlins in the 16th round of the 2016 draft out of the University of Kentucky.
The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 25 active players, plus Lewis Brinson on his rehab assignment, and a revised roster is attached.
The Jumbo Shrimp and Wahoos will continue their series with the second contest of the five-game set on Wednesday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium at 7:35 p.m. eastern. Right-handed pitcher Nick Neidert (10-6, 3.23 ERA) will start for Jacksonville against Pensacola right-handed pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez (9-9, 4.16 ERA). Fans can listen to Wednesday's game on the Jumbo Shrimp Network presented by Community First, beginning at 7:20 p.m. eastern with the pregame show "Shrimp On Deck" locally on Sunny 102.3 FM, on the TuneIn Radio app, and www.jaxshrimp.com.
Jacksonville will return home to open a five-game series with the Birmingham Barons at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19. Gates open at 5 p.m. for Southpaw's Birthday, with local mascots on hand and a Pregame Candy Drop in the outfield presented by Jax Refrigeration. Families can play catch on the field, followed by player autographs on Baptist Health Sunday Family FUNday. Kids activities will be in the Wolfson Children's Hospital Kids Zone, and after the game, kids 12 and under can run the bases. The game is presented by Easy 102.9.
