Montgomery Biscuits News Release

JACKSON, Ten. - The Biscuits (68-54) and Jackson Generals (64-57) exchanged wins on Wednesday night at The Ballpark at Jackson with Montgomery taking the resumption of a suspended game from August 1, 4-0, and then Jackson winning the second seven-inning game, 5-1.

The first game began in the bottom of the second, so not only were the Biscuits the home team in a ballpark other than Riverwalk Stadium, they were also batting first, and did so against the league leader in strikeouts, Taylor Widener (4-6). The 23-year-old right-hander looked good early, but the Biscuits finally cracked him in the fourth when Mike Brosseau launched his 13

th home run of the season to put the Butter and Blue up, 2-0.

In the fifth, Nick Solak would notch an RBI-single, and Lucius Fox did the same in the sixth. Dalton Moats opened and tossed four scoreless innings, before Matt Krook (3-2) delivered two of his own. Travis Ott closed it out with six strikeouts over three shutout frames from the seventh to the ninth in the victory that put the Biscuits a season-high 15 games over .500.

Sam McWilliams (4-7) got the ball in the second game, and fell behind early when Marty Herum took the righty over the right field wall for a solo home run in the second. Later in the same inning, Josh Prince laced an RBI-single to double Jackson's lead to 2-0.

Bo Takahashi, who had been activated off the disabled list earlier in the day, kept the Biscuits off-balance through four shutout innings, surrendering just two hits and striking out three. Prince hit a mammoth solo home run over the left field wall in the fourth, and a two-run double by Dominic Miroglio tacked on a couple more for the Generals in the fifth. The only Biscuits run came on an RBI-groundout by Jake Cronenworth in the seventh.

The Biscuits have still won nine of their last 11 games, and will try to make it 10 of 12 on Thursday when Blake Bivens (0-1) squares off against Justin Donatella (5-8) at 6:05 PM.

The Biscuits return home on Sunday, August 19 for a 10-game homestand to close out the regular season. Montgomery welcomes the Chattanooga Lookouts for five games, which includes Alabama State vs. Tuskegee Night on T-Shirt Thursday on August 23. The Tennessee Smokies come into the Capital City for Troy University and Community Night with MAX Fireworks on August 24. Alabama/Auburn Night, presented by 95.1 The Fox, and MAX Fireworks is on Saturday, August 25. AUM Night, featuring a 2019 Schedule Poster Giveaway, will be Sunday, August 26, and then the series concludes with Fan Appreciation Night on Tuesday, August 28.
