Greg Keagle (7-9) allowed just 5 hits in a complete-game performance for his 1st shutout win of the season as the Pioneers turned away Quebec 3-0 Wednesday night in front of 1330 fans at Dunn Field on City of Elmira Employees Night.
Since a dismal 2-month stretch in which the Horseheads native went 1-8, Keagle ha bounced back to go 3-1 in his last 4 appearances including 2 impressive wins on the homestand.
Elmira has won 5 straight, their longest win streak of the season. The Pioneers lead the wild-card race by at least 3.5 games with only 18 remaining in the regular season. The Pioneers improved to 12 games over .500 (42-30) for the 1st time this season and are 17-10 in the 2nd half.

Michael Coleman hit a 2-run HR in the 4th inning, his 2nd and Ron Bush hit a solo HR in the 6th, his 1st, to lead the offense. Otherwise, Tim Stanton (9-4) pitched well in the losing effort allowing ust 5 hits in 7ip.

But Benoit Emond bounced out to end the threat. Quebec also drew a pair of walks in the 3rd and had a couple of singles in the 4th but left runners on base both times.
