Sporting Kansas City News Release
(September 14, 2007) - The Kansas City Wizards acquired today part of the Freddy Adu replacement allocation and two draft picks from Real Salt Lake for forward Yura Movsisyan and a youth international slot through the 2009 season.
"Yura Movsisyan is a fantastic talent, and we wish him all the best," Wizards Technical Director Peter Vermes said.
Kansas City receives RSL's natural third-round selection in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft and their natural first-round selection in the 2009 Supplemental Draft. Movsisyan, a second-year forward, has five goals this season in 18 games played. He started five games in and played 666 minutes for the Wizards in 2007.
According to MLS rules, any of a team's three designated youth international slots can be traded for a designated period of time. Allocations (or portions of allocations, as in this trade) may also be traded. Allocations may be used to re-sign players already in MLS or players entering the league for the first time.
