A pair of teams with slim playoff chances still alive come together at BMO Field when Toronto FC plays host to Real Salt Lake in a real must-win game for both. For Toronto FC, it's a question of not only points, but goals. The Reds haven't scored now in more than 12 hours of play, as they have gone winless in nine consecutive games. Yet they are still just nine points out of the final spot for the final spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs, two ahead of Real Salt Lake, who are completing a four-game road swing that has now seen tough one-goal losses to the top two teams in the league, D.C. United and Houston Dynamo.

Both teams currently have a firm grasp on playoff spots - now it's seeding that is paramount. The Revolution currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference, well positioned though trailing D.C. United by seven points. - A year ago, the teams split the season series, each winning by shutout on their home grounds. The 4-0 Dallas win at Pizza Hut Park was the heaviest defeat suffered by the eventual MLS Cup finalist Revolution over the course of the season.
- That Hoops win snapped a four-game Revolution winning streak in the series, FCD's first victory against New England since June 12, 2004. Since the 2000 season, when Dallas won both meetings between the teams, the Revolution have won 10 of the encounters, with FC Dallas winning three and one draw.

Two teams in real need of a jumpstart for the stretch drive meet at Arrowhead Stadium when the Kansas City Wizards entertain the Columbus Crew. The Wizards had last week off after completing a winless three-game road swing, with just one win in their last six games. But they still have a five-point edge as they chase their first postseason berth in three years. The Crew meanwhile fell out of the top eight last weekend in a 1-0 home loss to the Chicago Fire; winless now in their last six games, they are a point behind Chicago, still tied for ninth place overall with the Colorado Rapids.

- A year ago, the Wizards swept the season series, winning all four games and not allowing a goal in the final 327 minutes they faced each other.
- It was the first time since 1997 the Wizards had taken the season series. The Crew had won the season set in 1999, 2002 and 2005, splitting the remainder, since the Wiz took two of three games in the league's second season.

A week after a crucial victory at Columbus to pull into eighth place in the MLS overall standings and the final playoff spot, the Chicago Fire face another huge conference game as they play host to the New York Red Bulls at Toyota Park. The Red Bulls knocked off the Fire 1-0 at Giants Stadium two weeks ago, but lost for the third time in four games last weekend at Chivas USA - all on the road. The Fire have alternated wins and losses over their last five games but have still pulled a point ahead of both the Crew and Colorado Rapids in the overall table, while also having a game in hand over both of those clubs.
