
Kansas City Falls 4-2 in Nightcap

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones (35-19) fell, 4-2, to the Schaumburg Flyers (21-34) in the nightcap of a doubleheader Wednesday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
In front of 4,141 fans, both Steven Stewart and Alain Quijano threw four scoreless innings before each team scored in the fifth. The Flyers scored off Stewart in the frame when Joey Gomes hit a two-run home run, giving Schaumburg a 2-0 advantage.
Kansas City answered in the bottom half of the inning, tying the score at two on an RBI groundout by Jimmy Mojica and a two-out RBI single by Keanon Simon.
Stewart allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings, striking out five. Quijano surrendered two runs on six hits and one walk, striking out three in five innings. Neither starter factored into the decision.
Schaumburg took the lead in the sixth off T-Bones reliever Drew Graham (2-1) when Ruddy Yan doubled with two outs and came home on an RBI single by Brandon Newton.
Graham gave way to Kevin Light with two runners on in the seventh. One of those runners scored, and Graham finished the night charged with two runs on three hits and one walk, picking up one strikeout in one inning of work. Light surrendered a hit and a walk while striking out to finish the contest.
Cody Evans picked up his second save of the season, working a scoreless ninth.
Kansas City wraps up a three-game series with Schaumburg tomorrow evening. T-Bones right-hander Cody McAllister (6-3, 3.51 ERA) is scheduled to face Flyers right-hander Brett Harker (3-6, 5.17 ERA).
