Kansas City Brigade News Release

Training Camp Update

The first week of training camp concluded for the Kansas City Brigade as the team embarks on their first season. Three hour practices, followed by lifting and conditioning, team meals, breakdown of video, and position meetings makes up a typical day. The team has learned a lot from the coaching staff and the team chemistry has been excellent. Training camp runs from January 3-20, while the roster needs to be trimmed from 37 to 24 players by January 22.

COACH KEVIN PORTER:

"There are three weeks until the season is underway, so we are packing a lot of information and doing a lot of work on and off the field right now. The energy-level is high and the players are enthusiastic, but there is always more to do. Our goal remains to compete for the ArenaBowl title and play to our capabilities on a day-in and day-out basis. One thing that the fans of Kansas City can be assured of: we will be prepared and we will work hard."

Anecdote of the Week

A Kansas City Brigade player, who shall remain nameless to protect his identity, came home from a day at training camp and took a quick nap. He abruptly woke up at 7:05, panicked and got in his car to drive to Kemper Arena to make the team breakfast and bus to practice. Pulling out of the apartment complex, he realized that it was 7:05pm, not 7:05am and that he in fact had not slept for 13 hours, but merely one hour.

Quote of the Week

"I'm like AI and Jason Kidd wrapped into one. I will take anyone in the league on in one-on-one basketball." - DS Chris Pointer "Yeah? How about (Brian) Poli-Dixon over there." - DS Cedrick Williams

NOTE: Chris Pointer is listed at 5-11 and Brian Poli-Dixon is 6-5.
