
Columbus Destroyers add three to finalize camp roster

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Destroyers have signed quarterback Tim Hicks, offensive specialist Carlos Johnson and kicker Miro Kesic team President David Paitson announced today. Hicks replaces quarterback Josh Harris, who was picked up by the NFL's New York Giants.
Hicks (6-4, 240, West Liberty State) joins the Destroyers after a solid three-year career in the arenafootball2 league. Last season Hicks started the season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers before moving to the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings. There he played in 10 games and completed 165-of-308 passes for 1,999 yards and 36 touchdowns. In 2004, he was the af2's top rated passer with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers and was named First Team all-af2 American Conference.
Johnson (5-11, 190, Lane (Tenn.) College) joins his former teammates of the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz B.J. Barre and Rickie Davis. Last season with the Yard Dawgz, Johnson played in eight games and had 10 receptions for 149 yards and three touchdowns. He was fifth on the team in tackles with 26.5 (21UT-11AT). He spent the 2004 season with the Grand Rapids Rampage and the 2002 season with the Tampa Bay Storm. In 2000, he led the AFL with 122 receptions for 1,412 yards and 23 touchdowns for Oklahoma.
Kesic (6-1, 215, Northeastern University) enters his rookie season in the AFL. Kesic was chosen out of the Destroyers open kicking tryout the team held in late November. Last season he became the first player from Northeastern to earn all-Atlantic-10 honors. He holds the school records for consecutive extra points (57), most field goals made (48) and is the all-time career leader in extra points (162) and overall scoring (306).
