Storm Sign Former Dolphin Roundtree

TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have signed free-agent defensive back Alphonso Roundtree, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.

A 5-foot-10, 190-pound native of Bradenton, Florida, Roundtree spent the past three seasons in the Miami Dolphins organization. Prior to signing with Miami on January 6, 2003 he played three seasons in the Canadian Football League, including 2000-01 with Montreal and 2002 with Ottawa. He recorded 24 tackles and a team-high four interceptions for 63 yards in returns for the Renegades in 2002. In his CFL career he recorded 81 tackles and six interceptions for 139 yards and one touchdown. He had previously spent training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted rookie free-agent in 1999.

A four-year letterman at Tulane, he started each of his final two seasons with the Green Wave. He had his most productive season in New Orleans in 1997 when he posted 61 tackles and four interceptions, including one for a touchdown. Roundtree finished his college career with 145 tackles and six interceptions for 164 yards in returns and two touchdowns.
