Kansas City Brigade News Release
The Kansas City Brigade, the new Arena League Football team, has announced their 2006 television schedule. Every single game in the inaugural season will be televised, with (at this time) two NBC Nationally televised games, five Fox Sports Midwest regionally televised games, and nine locally televised games on The WB Kansas City (KSMO TV 62) and Metro Sports (Time Warner Cable). The Brigade, The WB Kansas City, and Metro Sports, the local leader in sports coverage, finalized their unique partnership today. The WB Kansas City and Metro Sports will simultaneously air the games.
"To televise every game was a priority for us and we are thrilled that we are able to do that," Owner Tyler Prochnow said. "There is a great balance of games on various stations, with NBC, FOX Sports, WB, and Metro Sports. Locally, The WB Kansas City and Metro Sports are both a great fit for us and what we are trying to accomplish. They will not only do a great job of covering our games, but will also excel in showcasing our player's and team's personality with a variety of shows and segments."
Some television highlights for the year include the first-ever Kansas City Brigade game on The WB Kansas City and Metro Sports on Sunday, January 29th (which will be tape delayed until after 5pm CT due to the AFL's National NBC contract), followed by a Fox Sports Midwest game the following week at the Orlando Predators before the home opener. Fox Sports Midwest will also broadcast the lone Monday night game versus the Philadelphia Soul on March 13th. NBC will show two straight Sunday home games on April 9 (vs. the Los Angeles Avengers) and April 16th (vs. the Colorado Crush, owned by John Elway).
For the local games there will be a 30-minute pre-game show on The WB Kansas City and a 30-minute post-game show on Metro Sports. The on-air personalities (color, play-by-play, and sideline reporter) and details for the weekly television shows, which will air on both stations, will be announced shortly.
"We are thrilled to be the exclusive broadcast partner for the AFL's newest franchise....the KC Brigade. This is the most comprehensive local broadcast package in the league's history-- we'll be producing and airing more AFL games than any other city in the country. And KSMO-TV, The WB Kansas City will be the place to catch all of the action!" - Kirk Black; Vice President/General Manager - KCTV 5 / The WB Kansas City
"We at Metro Sports are ecstatic to bring our customers such a fast-paced and fun product. We think our overall relationship will bring great value to the team and to our cable customers." - John Denison; General Manager - Metro Sports
